Baud [or Band], Jr. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Census Notes and Comments Near the end of the census, the enumerator left out many of the birthplaces of family members. I noted that the birthplace was not listed in the remark section of those people. Virginia is abbreviated V'a, starting from pages 98a to the end. This pattern is not used throughout the census. Ditto marks were used for the rest of the family. There was difficulty is telling "u" apart from "n", "I" from "J", "O" from "C", and "d" from "a". Alternative possible spellings were noted in the remark section of the individuals in question. Some letters had fancy curly cues at the ends of words, which could make it appear that there was an extra letter. For instance a "w could end up looking like a "y" and a "t" like a "g" or an "s" like a "z". Further examination of the style and writing in other parts of the census clarified the letters. Also, "fs" was used for "ss". Stamped page 21 was skipped in the census so the census jumps from page 20 to 22. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Census was transcribed by Angela Whaley and proofread by Mary Hill for the USGenWeb Archives Census Project, http://www.usgwarchives.net/census . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
