The copy I am working from is VERY FADED, which naturally makes it even more difficult to read the old writing. I am trying to transcribe as correctly as possible, but the 5 & 3's look nearly identical as I can mainly only see the bottom half of them. MANY names are so faded I can barely make out one letter. Several last names are the same way, I can make out one letter that I am unsure of. The coding I have used is this. For names and ages, ANYplace that I am not sure at all of what I am seeing, you will see an asterick ( * ). You may see *Gardner or you may see G****, or 4* or *5. Anytime you see the asterick, it means that something is barely there, but I just can't make it out. I welcome your help in helping me to "see" these spots better if you can. Also, anyplace where I can not make out a letter at all, but that I can tell that something is there, I have put Unreadable or a U. It depends on the column as to whether you see Unreadable or U. Under Owned or Rented, there were a few that were answered as Un and I have entered them as Un. Please, do not confuse Un with my U or Unreadable's. I welcome any corrections, please email me at kytroutman@usa.net. Thanks, Maria DeMoss Troutman, 18 Aug 1999
