Edited and formatted by Maggie Stewart, June 2012. ************************************************************************** All above information must remain when copied or downloaded. ************************************************************************** NOTE: For more information on Lawrence County, Illinois, Please visit the ILGenWeb page at http://www.usgenweb.org/il/ ========================================================= ALSO visit the ILGenWeb archives at http://www.usgwarchives.net/il/ ************************************************************************** Notes: All entries transcribed as written by John Hughes Morris, census taker.  Many of the first names were abbreviated by the census taker; many of the last names ending in "s" (e.g., Powers), appeared with a "z' (e.g., Powerz).   I have left all first names as written in the census record but I have changed the "z" in the last names to an "s" which I hope will help in finding your ancestors.  In the event I was unable to read a letter/name, I substituted an "*" in the place of the missing letter or name.  The census taker did not include townships; he simply put "Lawrence County Ill" on the first page of the census records.    There were no slaves recorded in Lawrence County during this census, so that part of the census record has been left out.  The census taker did not include any information on disabled (deaf/dumb/blind) or "aliens" for any individuals in Lawrence County, so that part of the census record has also not been included.  For some entries, there will be a "C" before the persons name, which appears to be the census taker's abbreviation for "Colored."  Page 259 NOTE:  in the 80-90 males column, under Johnson, the age is noted as 84 and under the females column, the age is noted as 81.  Page 262 NOTE:  in the 70-80 males column, under Jn.o Murphy, age is noted as 77.  Page 264 NOTE: Female listed as 76 years of age for Benj.n Sumner.  Page 265 NOTE:  Under Ailsey  Miller, male listed as 84 years old.  Page 266 NOTE:  Under Constantine McMahon, male listed as 77 years old.  Page 269 NOTE:  For C.
