Transcriber's notes:

This census was prepared from the microfilm roll of the National Archives and Records Administration. 
It differs somewhat from the 1870 Census Book at the Fulton County Courthouse, which the Fulton Co.  
Historical and Genealogical Society have explained “the Census Book shows how the Census-taker 
writing the information into the Book wrote it the way he knew the person or the way the person 
gave him the information. After the Census Book was completed, a Census Marshall copied the record 
from the Census Book and sent it on to the Census Bureau and he sometimes made additions or changes 
he thought appropriate for the permanent record”. These differences found in the Fulton County 
Census Index appear in parentheses in the comments column. There has been no attempt made to indicate 
if it is the last name or first name, it should be obvious; and if the surname was found to be 
different, it is indicated only on the first line of the family. Where there are differences, 
the reader may wish to order the Fulton County copy for the township indicated for comparison.
